A very rare extra large "christiania" dining table designed by alf sture. Produced by hiort & østlyngen in norway during the 1950s. Made entirely from solid norwegian pine. A powerful design, drawing inspiration from traditional "allmoge", rural peasant furniture, but with modern refinement and aesthetics. The tables most exceptional feature is the solid book matched table top with a rorschach like pattern. Originally made for norwegian mountain cabins and as so called "sportstuge-furniture". Very good vintage condition with few signs of wear and patina.
