Pen on paper. Signed and dated lower right; title on the left. On the back is a dedication signed by his son Gian Maria Arata, dated 2000. Francesco Arata, originally from Cremona, was primarily a landscape painter who straddled the boundary between classicism and innovation. His work includes numerous portraits, especially from his Milanese period, but here the artist expresses himself through a sketched ink drawing that emphasizes the facial features, dominating the rest of the head and body.
