The … Read more An elegant carved pine console table topped with a richly veined marble slab, executed in the Louis XVI taste. The rectangular marble top, with softly rounded corners and warm brown and gray tonal variation, sits above a finely detailed frieze of openwork scrolling acanthus.
Swagged garlands of carved oak leaves drape gracefully across the front, suspended beneath the pierced apron and anchored at either end by crisply carved rosettes. The tapered, fluted legs are headed with carved blocks and terminate in small square feet, joined by a gracefully curved X-form stretcher centered by a classical urn finial adorned with additional laurel swags.

The pine retains a softly aged painted finish with gentle wear that enhances the depth of the carving and lends a refined, timeworn character. Architectural in presence yet delicate in detail, this console makes a striking statement in an entry hall, drawing room, or beneath a mirror.
