A striking mid-century studio pottery ashtray by Don Wright, featuring a bold reactive glaze in turquoise, deep brown, and smoky black. The organic biomorphic form, sculptural rim, and volcanic crystalline glaze movement make this an exceptional example of Wright’s mid-century ceramic work.
The interior glaze pools and radiates with dimensional color variation - teal blues blending into chocolate browns and black mineral halos. Heavy, substantial, and highly tactile, this piece serves beautifully as both a functional ashtray and a sculptural decorative object.
Signed “Don Wright” on the underside in hand-incised script.
A standout accent for mid-century, retro, eclectic, or studio pottery-focused interiors.
