Gruppo TATA was a very specific and rather obscure Italian avant-garde art collective, active in Padua (Padova), Italy, during the early 1980s, associated with experimental, playful, and conceptual art. Their work emphasized ludic (playful) experimentation, conceptual gestures, and a spirit reminiscent of Dada and Fluxus.
Their “official" artistic debut was the "Prima Esposizione Mondiale del TATA" on 22 May 1982, which explicitly framed their movement as "Da Dada a Tata un fluxus FRAGILE" but they held their first major exhibition, "TATA, overo del Ludico", on 6 May 1982.

Gruppo TATA created Exhibitions, conceptual works, and publications that blended: photography (including large-scale slides), visual puns, recontextualized objects, playful reinterpretations of modernist icons (e.g., Man Ray references). The theme of visual pun and recontextualized object is immediately apparent in the name of this mirror/sculpture
- 'Specchio Sfacciatio' is a double entendre as it means both, 'mirror without a face' as well as 'shameless mirror’. Shameless in as it refuses to reflect your face. The playfulness of the piece is pushed further in the Inscription on the back: "Non guardarti di notte, l'alter ego potrebbe perdersi!" meaning - "Do not look at yourself at night or you just may lose your alter ego!"
