This is a very large, 29 inch, gorgeous Natural Clam Shell specimen from the South Pacific seas showcasing deeply scalloped edges, exceptional details and a luminous, calcified surface.
As the largest living species of bivalve mollusk, Tridacna gigas—commonly known as the giant clam—is increasingly rare and highly protected due to its endangered status. This particular specimen, harvested prior to modern conservation regulations, is a stunning example of the species’ iconic form and scale. It likely dates to the early-20th century and was found in shallow reef environments where these majestic creatures live embedded in coral or sandy seabeds up to 20 meters (66 feet) deep.
This shell features dramatic undulating ridges and a creamy white interior with iridescent highlights, making it ideal as a sculptural centerpiece, planter, or decorative bowl in a coastal, organic modern, or tropical luxe setting.
Features a lovely creamy white finish with a soft patina. Very old worn patina from sitting outside for many years. Great for display.
