Rhett Thurman (American, b. 1943)
Charleston-based painter whose work in watercolors and oils has earned national recognition. A graduate of Queens College (Studio Art) and long-time member of the Gibbes Museum’s teaching faculty, Thurman has exhibited with prestigious watercolor societies and featured in the American Artists in Paris exhibition. Her work is celebrated for its bold color, luminous light, and expressive interpretation of scenes from the American South and abroad.
