This pair of substantial candlestick-form table lamps is executed in bronze and finished with a mottled, naturally suggestive verde patina that accentuates the crisp turning and stepped profiles throughout. Each lamp is conceived in the manner of an altar candlestick, beginning with a broad circular base built up in concentric, graduated tiers, rising to a flared drum and waisted transition that gives the silhouette its classical, architectural stance. The tall central stem is articulated with fine, evenly spaced reeding and ring-turned collars, creating a rhythmic play of light across the oxidized surface and emphasizing the object’s origins in traditional metalwork rather than later decorative casting alone. Above, a deep drip pan with rolled rim forms a prominent bobeche, topped by a smaller secondary tray and a baluster-form candle cup, together producing a layered, ecclesiastical profile associated with Continental bronze lighting and church furnishings later adapted for domestic interiors. The lamps have been electrified with cream-toned candle sleeves and brass-tone sockets, and they retain brown cloth-wrapped cords with an inline switch and molded plug, indicating a later conversion while preserving the candlestick character and the sculptural presence of the bronze forms.
