Vintage Medieval Revival Embroidered Wall Tapestry with Wood Rod
This charming vintage wall hanging features a hand-embroidered medieval courtship scene, depicting a courtly couple with a falcon—a classic symbol of nobility and romance. The central linen panel is framed by olive-green velvet borders and accented with ornate gold-tone braid trim. Suspended from a turned wooden hanging rod by four coordinating fabric loops, this piece perfectly captures the "Medieval Revival" aesthetic popular in mid-century European home decor.
Dimensions: 12.25" H x 12.25" W (Tapestry); 16.5" L (Rod).
Condition:
The item is in "as-found" vintage condition and shows significant signs of age that contribute to its storied, antique character:
Front: The embroidery remains intact, though it shows natural color fading and light surface soiling. The olive velvet borders exhibit some localized spotting and foxing.
Back: The tan backing fabric is heavily distressed, with several large "shattered" areas and holes consistent with aged weighted silk or historic pest damage. The backing is delicate and brittle.
Hardware: The gold-tone braid hanging loops show fraying, and the wooden rod has an aged, scuffed patina with some finish loss.
A wonderful find for lovers of "Dark Academia" or "Grandmillennial" style, this tapestry offers a great opportunity for a collector who appreciates the beauty of distressed, authentic vintage textiles.
