Luis Sanguino was born in Spain in 1934, married an American women in 1957 and moved to the US where … Read more Luis Sanguino was born in Spain in 1934, married an American women in 1957 and moved to the US where he created an impressive list of famous sculptures throughout NYC. These included the "Monument to New York" on Wall Street and the "Immigrants" statue in Battery Park Manhattan. Spending much time in Spain he created The "Libertad" sculpture in Oviedo and a sculpture of "Earnest Hemingway" in Pamploma. His works likewise appear across Mexico with a large installation in Monterrey, Nueva Leon, Mexico titled "La Gran Fuenta de la Vida" as well as busts of presidents and persons of distinction in all three countries. He was commissioned to create a bust of JFK and St. John Paul II.
This is a small treasure from a distinguished artist. It is old, probably from the 1950 or 60s. There is a possibility that the surface was effected by the salt air in the environment where it lived these many years. It is from an estate in Palm Beach Florida. See less
