This unique antique chest from Italy gives the appearance of being a four drawer chest at first glance. However, discreetly hidden behind the upper "drawer" is in fact a lift top and drop down drawer-front facade, which opens to reveal a small desk with a pair of drawers and upper cubbies that flank a single cubby at center. The lower portion of the chest houses three full-sized, decoratively raised panel drawers. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of ornate metal pulls flanking an escutcheon. The top secretary area can be locked by key. This piece is raised on a stacked platform base. The wood has a refreshed light custom paint and trim. There is a prior repair to a crack at one side (see additional images for further detail). This 18th century Italian chest, with hidden secretary and masculine design, will make a wonderful addition to your bedroom or office. See less
