An original set of four Belgian Art Deco quarter sawn cerused oak dining chairs featuring a rectangular splayed shield back rest and shaped tapered legs ending in narrowing wood sabots with a bentwood supportive surround, by De Coene Frères, model "Teniers", No. 904.
Designed and produced by De Coene between 1930 and 1935, the Teniers dining suite exemplifies High Art Deco style. In the 1930s, De Coene supplied a Teniers dining room ensemble for a luxury apartment in the Residence Place Hôtel in Brussels.
Due to the nature of the grain, the raw and unornamented chairs have an iridescent and natural grainy quality. The robust satin‑lacquered finish is clean and smart, and the light‑to‑medium caramel brown wood tone feels warm and inviting. The chairs are upholstered in a beige cut velour whose pattern subtly echoes the natural wood‑grain texture of the chair frames.
The Constructivist urban and austere design of these chairs project an air of strength and solidity.
Beautifully crafted with a keen eye for detail and proportion, this set of four chairs would make a impressive statement in any room setting . They can be used as dining chairs additional pull up chairs, occasional chairs,
bridge or game table chairs, desk chairs and can complement many different furniture design periods ex: Minimalist, Mid Century, French Modern, Moderne, Post Modern, Contemporary, Italian design, Industrial, Arts & Crafts .....
Each chair measures : 17 1/2 x 16 deep x 33 1/2 ht - seat ht.= 19 inches
Please note: These chairs are unsigned, but an old photo of the same model makers chair is shown in the listing.
