The Windmill plate was hand painted by the artist A.E.V. Roggeveen in 1905. The Tall ships plate was painted by A.P. Guerain in 1906. The Delft company was owned at that time by Joost Thooft whose name appears in an incised mark on the back of each plate. Joost bought the factory in 1876 and was joined by Abel Lobouchere in 1884. Abel Lobouchere's name is likewise part of the incised mark on the back of each plate. At the time of production, it took eight years of training to become a master painter for Delft. In the early 20th century the company was sold and began mass production of products. The mark changed on these later items. These are genuinely old but have no chips or damage. Craze marks are visible but the overall surface is beautifully intact. From an estate in Palm Beach Florida. See less
