This beautiful heavy wood wall mirror is … Read more Offering a vintage Chippendale Style wall mirror by Drexel Heritage, Signed, circa 1980s. This beautiful heavy wood wall mirror is most likely a walnut or mahogany book-matching veneer placed over a hard wood. This mirror is extremely heavy and well constructed and weighs 34 pounds. It retains its heavy duty hooks and wire on verso for secure hanging. The mirror portion is a gorgeous DOUBLE BEVEL around its perimeter, giving it a more reflective and sparkling appearance.

This specific mirror is a classic example of the Chippendale style, with a "Broken Pediment" or "Swan-Neck" as shown. This design became popular in the mid-to-late 18th century and has remained a staple of traditional interior design through high-quality 20th-century reproductions.

EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. Some small nicks commensurate with age... very minor.. The new owner will be very happy about the excellent condition of this vintage mirror.

Key Design Elements
1.- Swan-Neck Pediment: The top features two graceful, S-shaped curves (the "swan necks") that meet toward the center but leave a gap.

2.- Central Finial: The carved wooden ornament sitting in the center of the pediment is a stylized acorn.

3.- Scrolled Apron and Ears: The decorative, undulating wood carvings at the bottom (the apron) and the sides (often called "ears") are hallmark features of the Chippendale aesthetic.

4.- Book-Matched Veneer: If you look at the wood grain on the flat surfaces above and below the glass, you can see the grain mirrors itself, indicating a high-quality mahogany or walnut veneer.
