A late 18th/early 19th century Louis XV provincial dining table in oak comfortably seating 6-8; having a parquetry top of solid oak resting upon a base comprised of scalloped and aprons beaded and carved with foliate detail and spanning cabriole legs carved with shell and foliage at the knee with the foliate detail repeated at the foot.
Pegged joinery securely attaches legs to the apron’s mortise and tenon construction, while the warm finish belies the early pit-sawn boards retaining a storied patina underneath.
A beautiful and rare piece, this table is well-suited for everyday use in a dining room or breakfast room setting.
