This hexagonal "palace-sized" vessel is decorated in the classic Mandarin palette, featuring expansive hand-painted narrative scenes of courtly life set within garden pavilions.
The jar is distinguished by its size and its complex six-sided form, which is significantly more difficult to fire than round vessels of this scale. The decoration includes vibrant Famille Rose enamels, intricate gilt scrollwork, and secondary panels of birds, florals, and "Precious Objects." It is topped with its original hexagonal cover featuring a large, gilded Buddhist Lion (Foo Dog) finial.
