Hand-blown and handmade at the renowned Harrach Glassworks in Bohemia, now Czech Republic. Harrach "jewel cameo" refers to a specific highly decorative style of Bohemian glass produced by Harrach Glassworks and a couple of other Bohemian glassworks. The jeweled cameo style is also referred to as "Formasa", involving raised, layered applied glass designs, adding to the decadent style. The glass is often cranberry with high-relief gold enamel work referred to as "cameo" depicting flowers and vines. Jeweled cameo was at it's height between 1899-1904. These Harrach Jewel Cameo pieces are highly sought after, and are considered true high quality luxury collectibles and are very valuable. This set includes a pitcher (ewer) and 4 matching cups. The pitcher stands at 10.5 inches tall, and is 5-inch diameter at the bottom. The cups are 3.25" H and 2" D. The set is in great condition, no chips or cracks, there is some wear on the gold gilt and cranberry stain, typical for the age and use. There are bubbles and marks made during the making of these pieces, see pictures. A truly beautiful collector's set, it exudes elegance and craftsmanship from early 1900's Bohemian glassmakers.
