The piece features three drawers, each retaining its original, intricately hand-carved wood pulls adorned with fruit and leaf motifs. The facade is enhanced with decorative paneling and incised spoon carvings, hallmarks of the period’s aesthetic. A graceful, tiered backsplash crowns the top, lending an elegant architectural silhouette.

The drawers are constructed using Knapp joints — also known as “pin and cove,” “pin and scallop,” or “half moon” joints. Distinct from traditional dovetail joinery, the Knapp joint was among the first successful machine-made joints used in American furniture production, a detail that helps date the piece to the late 19th century and reflects the era’s evolving manufacturing techniques.
