Offered here is a substantial and beautifully executed bronze casting of “The End of the Trail” by noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser.
This iconic American image, first modeled in 1894 and made famous at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, remains one of the most recognized works of Western art.
This example measures approximately 30 inches tall, 32 inches long, and 9 inches wide, mounted on a green marble base with a brass “FRASER” name plaque.
Casting Information
The sculpture is signed “J.E. FRASER” in the bronze.
Based on construction, patina, and mounting style, this appears to be a later 20th-century bronze casting (circa 1960s–1990s) after the original model — not an early Roman Bronze Works lifetime cast.
It is a high-quality, substantial decorative or estate bronze, consistent with later authorized or reproduction castings of this famous model.
No foundry mark or edition number is visible.
Why This Piece Still Matters
Even as a later casting, this is:
A large and dramatic display sculpture
A classic Western Americana statement piece
A highly recognizable museum work
Substantially sized and visually impressive
Large examples like this display beautifully in home, office, or gallery settings.
