You can almost hear the screen door slap and the low hum of cicadas. It may have begun life as a games table, cards slapped down, coins stacked high, or perhaps as a modest breakfast perch for strong coffee and colder mornings.

Its design is honest and unfussy: four square legs, their edges chamfered and softened by hand, splay ever so slightly as if bracing against a cabin floor worn smooth by wool socks and wet boots. Matching chamfered cross stretchers tether the legs together with understated geometry.
