Etching hand colored on paper realized by Alessandro Kokocinski. Hand signed in pencil lower right. Artist Proof. Very good condition. In this finely executed work, Alessandro Kokocinski brings together his unmistakable poetic imagery and his theatrical, dreamlike sensibility. The composition centres on a mounted figure—part rider, part performer—poised atop a moving horse, rendered with an expressive linearity and enriched by delicate hand-applied colour. The vivid contrast between the dark, atmospheric background and the pale body of the horse heightens the sense of drama and suspension, as if the scene were unfolding under a spotlight on an imaginary stage. Kokocinski’s graphic language, rooted in drawing and deeply influenced by circus iconography, literature and symbolism, is evident in the fantastical character of the rider, dressed in a pointed costume that evokes the world of masked actors and wandering storytellers. The horse, simultaneously strong and fragile, becomes a timeless emblem of travel, metamorphosis and inner journey. Balancing narrative suggestion and formal elegance, the present etching captures the artist’s ability to transform the everyday into vision, offering a compelling example of Kokocinski’s distinctive universe—an enchanted realm where memory, theatre and myth converge.
