The stepped design incorporates three hinged compartments, each opening to reveal useful storage, making the piece both practical and decorative.

The steps are fitted with original tan leather treads, each bordered with a reeded edge, and display attractive wear consistent with age and use. The fronts are fitted with original cast brass lion’s head ring handles, a bold classical detail typical of the late Georgian period. The piece stands on turned legs, giving it a light and well-balanced stance despite its solid construction.
