It was used from the 16th century onward for lighting fires. The middle section has ridges for lighting the matches and it is raised on three porcelain round legs with brass swing handle. The matchbox shows signs of wear. It measures 11 cm high and 6.5 cm diagonally. It weighs 130 grams. See less
