A charming pair of antique Dutch transferware plates by Petrus Regout & Co. of Maastricht, rendered in the classic “Distel” (Thistle) pattern. The botanical sprays are transfer-printed in deep cobalt against a warm ivory ground, echoing the romantic aesthetic of English Staffordshire wares while retaining their distinctive Continental character. Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, these plates bear the Regout sphinx hallmark to the reverse. Beautiful for wall display, shelf layering, or tabletop styling.
Condition: Age-appropriate crazing and visible hairline cracking as shown.
A larger chip is on the front of the small plate, which measures 8” in diameter.
