It's sculpted out … Read more Up for sale is a large high quality hand carved antique Canadian Inuit soapstone Eskimo sculpture E91092.
It's sculpted out of a solid heavy piece of soapstone that has dark green/black tones and is a nice sized piece weighing 11 pounds.
The stylized sculpture depicts an eskimo man leaning over holding the tail of a walrus while sitting on his back. The walrus also has nicely carved tusks, one is a half tusk that we are unsure if it was meant to look like this or was broken.
The sculpture is in good condition, signed underneath, is very heavy, and measures 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide by 7 1/2. The walrus head has a repair but is hard to notice when upright. Refer to photos. See less
