Lithograph on paper. Hand signed in pencil. Artist proof. This evocative composition by Nino La Barbera unfolds as a dreamlike, mythological tableau immersed in a luminous atmosphere of blues, violets and soft iridescent tones. Three nude figures—rendered with delicate modelling and a classical sense of anatomy—occupy an enigmatic landscape where sea, sky and imagination dissolve into one continuous space. On the left, a seated female figure with a crescent-shaped headdress recalls archaic divinities or lunar iconography, her calm presence confronting the viewer with an almost sculptural stillness. At the centre, a reclining figure leans forward in an intimate, contemplative gesture, anchoring the scene in human emotion. To the right, a winged female form appears suspended in motion, gliding through swirling currents of air and water, her body merging with fantastical marine and vegetal elements. The overall composition is characterised by fluid transitions and soft, mist-like gradations, enhanced by subtle rainbow highlights that introduce a visionary, almost alchemical quality. La Barbera’s poetic language bridges Symbolism and Surrealism, transforming the figurative subject into a timeless allegory—suggesting themes of metamorphosis, desire, and the fragile boundary between reality and myth.
