The fixture is suspended by four strands of individually formed and joined iron links attached by hand-peened rivets that are surmounted by two 5.5" diameter inverted canopies separated by a hinge (that was most likely added when the piece was re-wired and newer black socket cups were installed in the mid-20th century; probably to add a loop to hang an embellishment from the center of the bottom if desired). The fixture has four upward lights and faux wax drip plastic candle sleeves and is hardwired with a brown silk rope cord. This style was extremely popular during the Spanish Colonial Revival movement in California, Texas and the Southwest during the 1920s-1930s and still makes a fabulous lighting accent in Mission and Hacienda-style homes!
