SURF’S UP!!! What a GNARLY BOARD, BRO!!!!! LOL… True…. This is a SUPER spectacular surfboard. It’s well recognized by the red to blue gradient diamond shaped laminate decal/label on the bottom of the board. The board is composed of a beautiful neutral beige colored fiberglass longboard shaped body and features a FANTASTIC fin bursting with lovely colors of red, yellow, & blue, a couple of eye-catching decals, a clear leash plug ring, and a black rope leash/leg rope. It has a vintage “Heineken” beer decal on the top or “deck” of the board & the distinguished “Sparky” board decal & an identifying “Victory Wetsuits” decal on the bottom. Victory Wetsuits was a notable company selling surfing wetsuits, equipment, & accessories active in the 80’s. The board was signed above the leash plug by local Hawaiian artist Marie C. Wuerker dated 7/12/1980. “Ho’ okahi o’ u Mea Nui Aloha” is a traditional Hawaiian inscription that translates to “My one great love,” which leads us to believe this board may have belonged to her at one time… maybe she was a surfer, we’re not sure… but what’s NOT to love about this surfboard??? It’s AWESOME!!! While we are NOT selling or promoting this board for actual surfing purposes… it’s just not in that kind of condition… we are SURE you are going to LOVE it’s creative & decorative potential!! It bears a tranquilizing Tropical Island or Coastal style that will be MARVELOUS mounted on a large wall in your game or entertainment room, simply leaned against a wall in your sunroom, hanging above or leaning beside your outdoor tiki bar, anywhere in your seaside Lanai, or any room that needs a beautiful BEACHY vibe!! OR… if you or someone you know have constructive talents… we think this surfboard could easily be converted into a FABULOUS table or bench!! All you need is a base. Possibilities are as limited as your creativity!!
Robert “Sparky” Scheufele was a legendary surfboard shaper and a key figure in the mid-century surf culture. He was co-founder of Inter-Island Surf Shop which opened its first physical location in 1960 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is credited with several major advancements in surfboard design including concave nose designs, the modern speed fin, textured decks, and the first solid fiberglass fins. His hands shaped beautiful boards from the 1960’s through the 1970’s including a few made for the Greg Noll team and Surfline Hawaii which are now highly prized collectors boards. Sparky passed away in 2012 but his legacy is preserved by current rights holder Barry Morrison who continues to represent Sparky and Inter-Island labels. Authorized merchandise is still available through the surf shops online store.
DUDE… There is nothing quite as mesmerizing as a day at the beach… The sun on your face, the breeze in your hair & the sand in your toes!!! And an original creation by legendary surfboard shaper Robert “Sparky” Scheufele is sure to bring that “Day at the Beach” feeling right into your home. If you love it as much as we do, you better “Ride this Wave,” and make it YOURS!!!!
