J.C. & Company Ltd manufactured in England was known for silver-plated items such as trays and serving dishes in the 19th and turn of the century. They were known for their intricate and often reticulated designs, silver plated over a base metal, typically brass or copper. This massive tray is plated over brass and the brass is showing through on the base of the tray, the beading and on the underside, due to years of use and polishing, giving it a golden glow. Nonetheless, at almost a full yard wide, this incredibly heavy tray still has commanding presence and years of use left. A real beauty and a segment on a sideboard or centerpiece on a dining table.
