Traditionally used for the preparation and fermentation of bread dough, flour was stored inside the deep interior trough, the dough worked on the top surface, then returned inside to rise before being taken to a communal village oven. The lift-top plank surface with breadboard ends opens to the original kneading bin, retaining its dark fermentation patina from generations of use. The base is reinforced by a shaped wooden stretcher for stability during kneading, reflecting its utilitarian purpose while remaining suitable as household furniture. Raised on straight legs with pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, the table retains a warm honey-toned surface with natural wear, scattered historical wormholes, and tonal variation consistent with age. Structurally revised in our workshop and finished with a hand-applied protective wax, making it appropriate for use as a console, kitchen island, or storage piece while preserving its original character.
