This beautiful Hmong embroidered story cloth, also known as Paj Ntaub, features various animals and human figures and a polished black cotton borders. Intricate folk art through hand-embroidery and cross stitching. This central scene is formed by a geometrical border often featuring mountain motifs. The attire on these female figures, specifically the skirts, is a characteristic of Green Hmong woman. These cloths serve as a form of visual storytelling and a preservation of Hmong heritage.
Purchased 1970’s-1980’s in China while traveling remote villages, stored since. Pictures show you each and every angle, no hidden damages at all. Colors are vibrant, like new condition.
