"your tableau differs in a few respects: 4 tiles instead of 6, the farmer is not turned towards the horse. I couldn't say which tile factory used this unusual design; i haven't come across it in the books about the companies in utrecht, harlingen, and makkum. It is very striking. The photo on the back does not provide much additional information; the tiles are mounted on pressed sheet material. It is possible that there is a number painted on the tile itself, but i would not risk removing the tiles unless you are having them restored and reinstalled. You cannot see what kind of adhesive was used to mount the tiles, and there is a risk that the adhesive is harder than the tile itself." (signed, mr. J. Kamermans, curator of the dutch tile museum)
