A refined matched pair of antique dutch ceramic lamps made from royal delft (de porceleyne fles) louis xv–style baluster vases, hand-painted in rich cobalt blue tones with floral cartouches and rocaille scrollwork, and finished with new pleated silk lampshades. Professionally converted with brass fittings, newly wired with new sockets and fabric-wrapped cords; supplied with a us plug or adapted for your country of use. Listed height includes shades.
crafted in 1905 at de porceleyne fles (royal delft), these louis xv–style baluster vases represent the factory’s early 20th-century rococo revival production, when historic european forms were reinterpreted through the lens of traditional delftware. The sculptural bodies rest on eight-sided (faceted) feet and feature scrolling c-curve cartouches with a gently flared neck—an ornamental silhouette designed to echo 18th-century french models while remaining distinctly dutch in execution.
each vase is hand-painted in layered delft blues—inky cobalt through softer wash tones—with a large central bloom surrounded by smaller florets and leafy sprays. The painterly handling is especially strong in the petal work and shaded foliage, giving the decoration depth rather than a flat transfer look. The bases are marked with the yearcode aa and the painter’s monogram pjg (petrus johannes gerbrands, employed by de porceleyne fles 1890–1931).
the lamps are completed with new pleated silk lampshades in a deep blue—tailored, crisp, and intentionally classic. Converted using non-invasive methods to preserve the ceramic forms; the pair is ready to place and use immediately.
