The jar is of a characteristic form with a bulbous upper body that tappers with a graceful concave to the foot (a form known as Maebyong in Korea and Plum Vase in Chinese). An indented line above the base renders its shape even more elegant. The jar has a white glaze with a slight green-grey tint and with fine crackles covering its surface. It features an under-glazed design of grapes and vines in blue with highlight with copper red in the petals and iron brown in the center, in both the front and the back. The hand-drawn decoration is simple but effective, full of folky charm. The piece displays impressive patina from years of use. The lower part shows a darker shade, possibly from handling or exposure. Around the mouth, spider lines developed, random but stable, indicating its age.
