Constructed from solid poplar, the exterior is reinforced with raised wooden battens and finished in a warm, time-softened honey-brown patina developed naturally over decades of use. The structure is strengthened with blackened metal bands and fitted with substantial brass corner guards, hinges, and locking plates. The original brass hardware bears the stamp “Au Bon Marché, Paris,” adding a desirable layer of provenance and authenticity. Metal side handles allow for ease of movement and retain a richly aged surface consistent with the trunk’s antique character.
The interior opens to a clean white-painted lining with crosshatched ribbon detailing inside the lid, offering a bright and practical storage space.
