Circa 1860 English double pedestal collector's chest desk. Bird's eye maple & figured walnut with harewood. Possibly original leather writing surface, the gilt tooling very worn. 8 side drawers, oppose 8 side drawers; central deep drawer flanked by narrow deep drawer & narrow faux drawer oppose faux central drawer flanked by faux narrow & narrow deep working drawer. Raised on hidden casters. Wellington locking system. Provenance: Anthony Outred, London, BADA to Dr. John Fryer Collection, June 10, 1998. Opening dimensions: 17.5" w., 24" h.
