Or the eagle can stand alone on the faux marble. This sculpture has been cast from plaster of Paris, a material that has been used for centuries to capture intricate details. The skillful painting of this piece itself has turned it into a work of art that really looks like an antique wood sculpture. The ensemble measures 21” tall. The eagle and marble perch alone is 10.25” tall with the wing span being 13.5”. The corbel is 11” tall, 8” across, and 5” in depth. This is a versatile piece that would be wonderful to display in honor our upcoming 250th anniversary. Please note that exact age and maker are unknown. See less

- As can be seen in the photos, there are some missing flecks of gold paint on the corbel as well … moreAs can be seen in the photos, there are some missing flecks of gold paint on the corbel as well as wear and fading of the black "wood" and upper edge. The right side of the corbel has had missing plaster that has been painted over, but, because of its placement, doesn't really mar the beauty of the piece (see photos 6 and 7). Crazing appears in some areas, but not sure if this is deliberate faux painting or not. It does not show in photos. less
