The production of this tapestry is attributed to the Enghien Workshops, established by the Enghien tapestry worker Jean Mostinck in 1539, who was claimed to be the Tapissier to the Royal Court of England. This design is also known as the Great Yarmouth Cloth of Estate. This tapestry now belongs to The Burrell Collection in Glasgow, and represents the reign of Edward VI (1547-1553) or Elizabeth I (1559-1603). The Latin translation reads HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE (Shame be to him who evil thinks).
This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.
Composition: 100% cotton
Finish on reverse: This tapestry is fully backed with luxury cotton lining incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging purposes.
