It opens with two drawers in the front, adorned with geometric checkerboard marquetry. Each drawer features foliate drop handles and a finely chased bronze keyhole escutcheon, complete with a working key and lock.
The delicately shaped lower rail is embellished with gilt bronze scrollwork and florets, a refined echo of the openwork mounts and sabots that grace the cabriole legs at the front.
The thick, molded, ogee-edged, purplish brocatelle marble top gracefully follows the curves of the commode, adding a mineral touch to the overall woodwork. The sides, also flowing, echo the same wood species and motifs as the front, ensuring perfect harmony. The subtle contrast between the light and dark woods is particularly striking, lending this piece a warm and sophisticated presence.
