The body is adorned with large peony blossoms, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune, framed by scrolling foliage designs. The shoulder and neck are embellished with hand-applied molded Foo-dogs/lion mask reliefs, a labour-intensive decorative feature typical of higher-quality Meiji export porcelain. It is heavily potted with a thick glaze and hand-painted decoration throughout. The interior and foot show appropriate age-related wear consistent with late 19th to early 20th century production.
