Description

This is a matched pair of vintage elephant bookends featuring stylized elephants modeled in a naturalistic pose atop integrated bases. The figures are sand-cast metal, finished with a copper-toned patina that has developed attractive surface wear and oxidation consistent with age.

The underside of each base shows casting vent holes, typical of mid-century sand-cast decorative objects. Residual wax is present around these holes, likely from felt pads or shelf-protection bumpers that were originally affixed to protect furniture surfaces. This wax is not part of the casting process and does not indicate lost-wax bronze or solid copper construction.
