"Birds of Belgium" an original painting available as prints, was created out of a feeling of pride. Having read about Belgium; its history and culture, the artists fell in love with the country and felt a need to honor that feeling.
"Birds of Belgium" showcases a vintage Belgian folk art vase; featuring the goddess Sequana, once worshiped throughout the country, that holds the fauna of Belgium. The birds, each native, twist and squawk in the painting, as they are both admired and respected. The different species are arranged as a bouquet of flowers who be, but with living creatures taking its place instead.
The colors, vintage and worn, show the liveliness of a forgotten era as the style is reminiscent of the old Baroque style.
In the bottom right corner, the artist signature, Alieska & Jose, is visible.
