This set of eight (8) vintage mid 20th century folio size abstract quadrichrome photographic prints from Derriere Le Miroir depict … Read more This set of eight (8) vintage mid 20th century folio size abstract quadrichrome photographic prints from Derriere Le Miroir depict tapestries designed by the world famous modern artist Joan Miro. The weaving was done by Josep Royo. These photos were executed by Graphic Panther for the well known 20th century art journal Derriere Le Miroir. Miro (Spain, France 1893-1983) was one of the world's great modernists. The images are from the un-numbered 1973 Derriere Le Miroir ltd. edition. Each image has textual description of the series on the reverse. The colors depicted are true. Dimensions: 11" x 15" each.

Derrière le Miroir (DLM) was an art magazine published between 1946 and 1982 by the French publisher and gallery owner Aimé Maeght of Galerie Maeght, which for many years was the most important gallery in the world for contemporary art. There were a total of 253 editions in 200 volumes. The magazine, itself designed as an art object presented in a large (22” x 15”) format, is illustrated with original lithographs as well as a number of reproductions. Poets and writers like Aragon, Beckett, Char, Eluard, Prévert, Queneau, Reverdy, Sartre, contributed with unpublished texts. Most of the major artists of the second half of the twentieth century created lithographs for DLM: Léger, Miro, Calder, Tapies, Chillida, Braque, Matisse, Giacometti, and Chagall.
