This vintage set of frosted Tom Collins glass, features a charming giraffe and bamboo design, was created by Gay Fad Studios, founded by artist Fran Taylor. The bamboo stalk bears the playful phrase, "For Long Drinks and Short Snifters."
Produced in the mid-century era between 1947 and 1951, the "Bamboo" pattern depicts a tall adult giraffe standing beside a small baby giraffe resting near a bamboo stalk. Fran Taylor, celebrated for her vibrant, multi-color ceramic designs permanently fired onto glass, was a trailblazing businesswoman and artist known as the "Glassware Rebel." She established Gay Fad Studios in 1939, employing a team of women artists to hand-paint innovative designs until the company closed in 1962.
