Publisher's full green morocco hardcovers, luxurious gilt and blind stamped boards feature ornate foliate designs, spine detailed with five raised hubs and title/compartments accented with ornamental devices, beveled edge boards oppose dentelle edges/interior borders, full gilt gauffered leaves, plain endpapers, profusely illustrated, text pages accented with ornamental borders, ex-libris book plate of Mary Ursula Umfreville Vaughan-Lee, adhered to verso of front board. Bound by Blackie & Son, label adhered to rear inside board.

Provenance: Mary Ursula Umfreville Pickering (1878-1970) was born on July 18th in London, England to Henry Dawnay Umfreville Pickering, was 25 and her mother, Mary Black, was 23. She married Arthur Vaughan Hanning Vaughan-Lee on 11 February 1915, in London, Middlesex, England. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter, Susan Vaughan-Lee (1918-2008). She lived in Saint George Hanover Square District, Middlesex, England in 1881. She died on 24 August 1970, in Kincardine O'Neil, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at the age of 92, and was buried in Kincardine O'Neil, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
