The artist was inspired by the principles of Art Dèco, which exalted the elongated, agile, and athletic forms of both male and female bodies. It was made between 1925 and 1930 with beautiful bronze statuary cast in a small artisan workshop in Val D'Osne (Haute Marne, France), an area famous for its cast iron, bronze, and copper foundries. On the statuette is imprinted the signature of the artist, but unfortunately is barely legible. Art Deco refers to a style and model of aesthetic taste that spread throughout Europe and the United States between the "Roaring Twenties" and the 1930s. The name Déco comes from the words "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes" (International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925, which initiated this new phenomenon that involved decorative arts, visual arts, architecture, and fashion. Because of its origins, Art Deco is also called "Style 1925". Art Deco is essentially characterized by classical forms and symmetrical, clean geometry and plasticity in the figures.
