Very large aquatint etching of Manhattan in all its glory in 1855. As seen from Brooklyn across an East River bustling with ships and boats, New York is a congested, low rise city dominated by church steeples. The Jersey shore is in the distance with the Orange Hills farther back still.
The fascinating picture is full of fine detail especially of the marine traffic that includes steam and sailing ships and watercraft of all kinds including the Brooklyn ferry.
Beautifully framed in brown wood with silk mat and gold fillet under plexiglass.

Published 1855 by F. and G.W. Smith, 69 Beekman St, New York, from a painting by JW Hill engraved by C. Mottram.

Very good pre-owned condition. No apparent damage to art. Some wear on frame. See less
