The piece, identified … Read more An extremely rare artistic majolica jug vase, attributed to the historic Sesto Fiorentino factory Carraresi & Schmid. The piece, identified at the bottom with the model number 265, represents an excellent example of 20th-century Tuscan ceramics.

Subject and Style: The piece is distinguished by its sculptural handle, modeled in the round in the shape of a coiled serpent, painted with a texture that imitates its scales. The body of the vase features a deep cobalt blue background, decorated with rich motifs of vegetal scrolls, acanthus leaves, mythological dragons, and a central cartouche painted in yellow and white, in true Neo-Renaissance or Eclectic style.

Material and Finish: The vase is made of glazed majolica with a glossy finish. The decoration is entirely hand-crafted with full-bodied and vibrant polychrome enamels.
