An intricately hand-painted Japanese Satsuma pottery vessel featuring lively karako children and a court scene, richly embellished with raised moriage enamels and gold throughout.
A finely detailed Japanese Satsuma pottery vessel dating to the early 20th century, hand-painted in polychrome enamels and extensive gilt. The exterior depicts animated karako (children) at play with attendants and a court lady among fans and seasonal motifs, while the interior is richly decorated with landscape reserves and florals against a dense moriage ground.
Produced in Japan during the late Meiji–Taishō era (circa 1910–1925) for the Western export market, this piece showcases the intricate raised enamel technique and lavish gold decoration associated with classic Satsuma ware.
A beautiful decorative accent for a bookshelf, console, or desk and ideal for chinoiserie, traditional, or maximalist interiors. Works equally well as a small cachepot, brush holder, or standalone display object.
