A 1999 bronze sculpture of a minotaur by American artist Marco A. Ovideo. The minotaur stands, leaning slightly to the right and is attached to a wooden base. The sculpture is numbered 4/25 and signed “MAO II 99.”
Living and working in Chimayo, New Mexico, Oviedo comes from a long line of woodcarvers and woodworkers that can be traced back eight generations to Spain. His works can be found in the collections of the Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe; the Albuquerque Museum; the International Folk Art Museum, Santa Fe; the Spanish Colonial Art Museum, Santa Fe; among others.
